Cohen Professor of Rheumatology, and Chief of Rheumatology at Boston Medical Center. Dr. Neogi is also a member of the Board of Directors at the Gout Education Society. Dr. Neogi’s clinical and research expertise focuses on osteoarthritis and gout, particularly pain mechanisms, supported by numerous NIH grants.
Dr. Neogi received her medical degree from University of Toronto, where she also completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology fellowship, and later earned a PhD in Epidemiology at Boston University. Among her numerous honors, Dr. Neogi received the 2022 Osteoarthritis Research Society International Clinical Research Award, the 2014 American College of Rheumatology (ACR) Henry Kunkel Young Investigator Award, and an honorary doctorate from Lund University in 2021. Dr. Neogi is committed to mentoring early-stage researchers, recognized with a BUSM Evans Research Mentoring Award. In her free time, Dr. Neogi likes to read, listen to music, spend time with family at the beach or in the woods, and would go back to doing pottery if she could!

Dr. Johnson has published several popular books about gout, uric acid, and health; his most recent is called Nature Wants Us to Be Fat (Benbella, 2022). He has also recently published a review, Controversies and Practical Management of Patients with Gout and chronic Kidney Disease, alongside Dr. Mandell.
