Dear Medical Professional,
Thank you for your interest in becoming a member of the Gout Specialists Network (GSN). The GSN is an initiative lead by the Gout & Uric Acid Education Society (GUAES)—a nonprofit organization of health care professionals whose mission is to raise public awareness of gout and improve overall patient care.
Today, more than 8.3 million Americans are suffering from this serious and potentially debilitating form of inflammatory arthritis. With an aging baby boomer population growing, it is more important than ever for medical professionals—who are on the frontlines of patient care—to get involved. Your support is especially critical, considering just 10 percent of gout patients are getting needed, ongoing treatment.
The GSN is designed to unite medical professionals who have experience in the diagnosis, treatment and management of gout. The network will also serve as a forum for all medical professionals with an interest in gout to access the latest information and research on gout, in addition to a variety of patient and professional education and resources.
As part of the GSN, medical professionals will be eligible to become a part of a medical professional locator, which will enable patients to search for a gout specialist by zip code. In an independent research survey, conducted on behalf of GUAES, we learned that many patients with gout do not believe they are accessing the best possible care in a timely manner. This is where you come in.
To help support the infrastructure and educational content made available through the Gout Specialists Network, we are asking medical professionals to make a nominal, tax-deductible contribution. This will cover a one-year membership, plus eligibility to be included in the GSN medical professional locator. Please indicate which level of contribution you are able to make to the Gout & Uric Acid Education Society. You will be prompted to pay once your registration is complete.
